WHY DETROIT?
Michigan is the birthplace of 7 Doorways Style Vinyasa, created by Jonny Kest.
For more than 30 years, this system has been practiced, refined, and passed down through one of the most dedicated yoga communities in the country.
Many of the teachers here have been teaching the method for decades. The level of experience inside this community is rare. Nowhere in the world will you find more depth of free-flow and a stronger “logs”(the long holding, intensity rising moments of class) experience.
Detroit is widely considered the mecca of 7 Doorways.
Practicing here is different than practicing anywhere else. You’re not just attending classes.. you’re stepping into the environment where the method was developed and continues to evolve.
This immersion gives you the chance to practice with some of the most experienced 7 Doorways teachers in the world, while experiencing the place where the system truly lives.
THE EXPERIENCE
During this immersion you’ll move through Detroit’s Original Vinyasa community and practice with several of the teachers who helped shape the method including a chance to practice with Jonny Kest, the creator himself.
Expect strong, creative vinyasa classes, thoughtful workshops, and plenty of time for conversation and connection.
Because the group is small, there’s space for deeper discussions about:
- practice
• sequencing
• teaching
• the philosophy behind the 7 Doorways system
• history lessons
The Yoga House becomes a shared home for the week. Mornings begin slowly with coffee and breakfast. Evenings often end with sauna sessions and stories from the day.
The rhythm of the experience blends practice, learning, rest, and community.
